FAQ: I can't make my regular lesson time, do you offer a make-up lesson?

We understand that sometimes students are unable to attend their scheduled music lesson due to unplanned illness, events or unforeseen circumstances. To ensure fairness to our students and teachers, we have the following cancellation policy in place. We thank you for understanding and respecting our cancellation policy. It helps us provide a consistent service to our students while ensuring our teachers’ time is valued and protected.

Cancellations: Where possible, give us as much notice as possible if you know you will be away! If you are unable to attend your lesson, please notify us by 9:00am on the morning of your scheduled lesson. Cancellations received by 9:00am will be eligible for a make-up lesson, subject to teacher availability. (FOR WEEKEND LESSONS: Cancelation notice must be given by 4pm the day before your lesson).

Late Cancellations & No-Shows: Cancellations made after 9:00am on the day of the lesson, as well as missed lessons where no notice has been provided will be considered a late cancellation. Late cancellations and no-shows are not eligible for a make-up lesson, and the full lesson fee will apply.

Going Away / Extended Absence: If you will be away or unable to attend lessons for an extended period, please notify us as early as possible and provide the expected dates of absence. Where possible we will hold your lesson time with a one lesson deposit.

Make-Up Lessons: Make-up lessons are offered for lessons cancelled in accordance with the cancellation policy and are subject to teacher availability. Your teacher will contact you to offer you a make-up lesson on two separate occasions. If after the second attempt the make-up lesson is not accepted, the make-up lesson will be forfeited. To ensure make-up lessons can be scheduled fairly and within our teaching availability, all make-up lessons must be accepted and used by the end of the current school term. Unused make-up lessons will expire at the end of each school term and cannot be carried forward, credited or refunded. You can keep track of your owing make-up lessons on Octavia.

Teacher Cancellations: If your teacher needs to cancel a lesson and we cannot find a suitable substitute teacher, we will provide as much notice as possible and arrange a suitable make-up lesson or a credit towards your next invoice.

Group & Duo Lesson Cancellation: If you are unable to attend your regular Group or Duo lesson, please let us know! Unfortunately, due to the nature of group lessons, no make-up lessons or credits are offered for missed Group or Duo lessons.

Performance & Workshop Cancellation: Our performance and workshop opportunities are offered to enrolled students as optional extra’s and are not compulsory. If a student chooses to participate in one of these events and then is unable to attend for any reason, any fees paid towards these events are non-refundable and non-transferable.  We highly recommend that students do not participate in these events if they do not agree to our non-refundable terms.

Discontinuing Lessons: If a student wishes to discontinue their lessons, we apricate as much written notice as possible and encourage students to see out the lessons they have paid for as our lesson fees are non-refundable and redeem any owing make-up lessons as these will expire once you un-enrol. If any fees remain owing, these must be paid in full.

If you’re curious about starting lessons, we’d love to help you take that first step!
